Wedding of the year competition

<< Back to the shortlist

Heather Donkersley and Daniel Sargent

The finer details
Couple: Heather and Daniel Sargent
Date: 31st March, 2012
Venue: Brandshatch Place Hotel & Spa, Fawkham Green
Colour scheme: Cadbury purple

Heather on...

Marriage:
The greatest thing about being husband and wife is that we're both still learning so much about each other every day. However, it took a while to adjust to being called Mrs Sargent by my pupils at school.

Anniversary celebrations: We've decided to go back to Brandshatch for a special meal to remind ourselves of the big day. I think Daniel might have a few surprises lined up too.

Making it to the final: We were playing a round of golf when we found out, then we phoned our families and went for a romantic meal.

Why they should win: Our day was about celebrating our relationship and taking it one step further. We're a down-to-earth couple and both felt we put so much effort into our day to make sure it ran smoothly.

Readers' poll

'To veil or not to veil?' That is the question...

Of course - cathedral-length train all the way for me!

I'll be wearing a traditional veil in the day but taking it off post-dinner

I'm donning a short '50s-style birdcage veil

Not for me - I'd rather not have another thing to worry about in the photos!
